Aftershock is another new event

The Earthquake Commission (EQC) is classifying the 5.3 aftershock in Christchurch on April 16 as a new event for insurance purposes.
This adds to a growing list of aftershocks since the first earthquake on September 4.
People who have suffered new damage as a result the April 16 event will need to lodge a new claim with the EQC and have three months in which to lodge their claim.
The deadline for this event is July 18 2011.
