Stakeholder Engagement Survey - May 2015

The overall objective of the research is to provide feedback on the experiences and views of key EQC stakeholders; and more specifically to understand the extent to which stakeholders:

  • Rate EQC’s performance on their three core functions – research, education and natural disaster insurance.
  • Believe that EQC is trustworthy, fair and competent.
  • Perceive that EQC’s performance is improving.

EQC also wants to ascertain what stakeholders perceive EQC currently does well and what could be improved on.

This report uses results from the two `stakeholder surveys to date (September 2014 and March 2015), allowing for comparison of results between the last two measures.

EQC Stakeholder Survey Report
September 2014

EQC has been operating in an extremely challenging environment in recent years, The Canterbury and Marlborough earthquakes have put unprecedented pressure on EQC’s services and resources. EQC has also faced other challenges, in part emanating from these events, such as management changes, being in the public and political spotlight and often feeling the brunt of negative publicity. EQC has worked hard to respond to these pressures and to adapt as required to improve performance. While it has been monitoring customer satisfaction, EQC has been keen to also measure the views and experiences of its stakeholders.

In September 2014 we completed our first six-monthly survey of key EQC stakeholders nationally in an effort to understand the extent to which stakeholders:

• rate EQC’s performance on their three core functions – research, education and natural disaster insurance.
• believe that EQC is trustworthy, fair and competent.
• perceive that EQC’s performance is improving.
• perceive what EQC does well, and what could be improved on.

The survey results indicated that just over half (54%) our stakeholders are satisfied with EQC’s overall performance, rating EQC’s performance as good, very good or excellent, with three quarters (73%) having noticed a significant improvement during the last 12 months The next survey will be carried out in March 2015.
