Two new Board members appointed
Two new Board members started with EQC this month and attended their first Board meeting today.
Toni Ferrier and Erica Seville have replaced Roger Bell and Gordon Smith, whose terms finished in June. Both of them have direct professional experience in helping people prepare for and recover from natural disasters.
Toni Ferrier has had years of experience in financial services and insurance and ran the Lumley Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Business from 2010–2015. She worked as a lawyer before starting her financial services career and most recently worked for Crombie Lockwood (part of the Arthur J Gallagher insurance brokers group). She is also on the Board of Accuro Health Insurance and runs her own consultancy business Purposely Limited.
Erica Seville is an engineer and risk management expert, who runs Resilient Organisations, which helps communities and organisations improve their resilience. She is also a Principal Investigator with QuakeCORE, the New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence on Earthquake Resilience. She has led research into disaster management, economic and business recovery and insurance efficacy, and advised the Australian government on critical infrastructure resilience issues.
EQC Board Chair, Dame Annette King, says she's thrilled that Erica and Toni will be joining the Board.
"They have very impressive skills and will add to the abilities the current Board members have. I’m looking forward to working with them, and having them bring their perspectives to our discussions and the decisions we make."
Roger Bell and Gordon Smith had been on the Board since 2013 and 2011 respectively, and their terms ended on 30 June.
"I want to thank Roger and Gordon for their work on the EQC Board," says Dame Annette.
"They were on the Board while EQC was going through major challenges and significant changes in the way we work, and they have both made valuable contributions to the organisation in that time."
