We’ve worked with private insurers to settle more than 38,000 claims for damage to homes, contents and land.

From 1 July 2019, EQC has been working closely with both private insurers and homeowners to resolve remaining Kaikōura Claims.

Please ensure that contact is made with EQC directly If you have concerns or queries over your Kaikōura claims.

As at 30 April 2019, 99% of EQC claims for the Kaikōura earthquake have been settled.

How we’re settling Kaikōura claims

On our behalf, a number of private insurance companies assessed and settled their customers’ EQC claims for home and contents damaged by the earthquake.

From 1 July 2019, management of most outstanding Kaikōura claims moves from private insurers back to EQC.

EQC has been managing some claims directly, including all land claims and the building and contents claims of customers who already have an open claim from another natural disaster event (for example, 2013 Sneddon earthquake).
